Waxing Salon FAQ: Your Questions Answered
FAQ'S
Let your hair grow to about a grain-of-rice length, usually 2–3 weeks. Gently exfoliate the area 24 hours before your visit. Skip heavy lotions, oils, and self-tanner on wax day. And try to avoid alcohol or caffeine right before, since they can make your skin more sensitive. If you’re unsure, come as you are—we’ll guide you!
Hard wax:
• Shrinks around the hair, not the skin
• Great for sensitive areas like bikini, Brazilian, and underarms
• Tends to feel gentler and more comfortable
Soft wax:
• Removed with strips
• Better for larger areas like legs or arms
At The Happy Wax Bar, we focus on hard wax to protect your skin and keep you comfortable.
Most clients come every 4–6 weeks. Staying on a regular schedule:
• Keeps hair growth more even
• Helps hair grow back finer and softer
• Usually makes each visit feel easier than the last
If you’re not sure how often to come in, ask Michelle during your appointment and we’ll recommend a schedule for your skin and hair type
(Aftercare Tips)
For the first 24–48 hours:
• Avoid hot tubs, saunas, and super-hot showers
• Skip workouts that cause heavy sweating on the waxed area
• Avoid tanning beds and direct sun on the area
• Wear loose, breathable clothing
After that:
• Gently exfoliate 2–3 times a week
• Keep the area moisturized with a light, fragrance-free lotion
Good aftercare helps prevent bumps and keeps your skin smooth and happy.
• Exfoliate the area 2–3 times a week with a gentle scrub or exfoliating mitt
• Keep skin hydrated with a light, non-comedogenic moisturizer
• Avoid tight clothing that rubs on freshly waxed areas
• Don’t pick or squeeze bumps—this can cause scarring
If you’re prone to ingrowns, ask us about products and routines that work best for your skin.
Please avoid waxing or check with your doctor first if:
• You’re using certain prescription acne or retinoid medications (like Accutane)
• You’ve had recent chemical peels, laser treatments, or strong exfoliants on the area
• You have open cuts, sunburn, rashes, or active infections on the skin
• You’ve recently had Botox or fillers near the area (ask for timing guidance)
If you’re unsure, message us before booking and we’ll help you decide what’s safe.
Here’s the quick breakdown, babe! Bikini cleans up the sides and top that might peek out of a standard bikini bottom. Extended bikini takes a little more off for a neater shape. Brazilian removes most or all of the hair from the front, sides, and back, and you can leave a small strip or triangle if you want. We’ll walk you through your options and help you pick the service that feels right for you!
Life happens—we get it. To respect everyone’s time:

• Late arrivals may be rescheduled and subject to a fee, so we don’t run into the next guest
• Missed appointments or last-minute cancellations may be subject to a fee

Usually, yes—but it depends on how you’re feeling and what your doctor recommends. Pregnancy can make your skin a little more sensitive, so let us know if you’re expecting and we’ll keep things extra gentle and comfortable. If you have any concerns, it’s always smart to check with your provider first!
Your comfort comes first at The Happy Wax Bar! We’ll start with a quick chat about your skin, any sensitivities, and what you’re having waxed. Then we’ll step out so you can get ready in private. During the service, we use gentle hard wax and walk you through each step so there are no surprises. You’ll leave smooth, clean, and confident!
Wear something comfy and easy to move in, babe! Loose clothes are best, especially after your wax, since tight waistbands or leggings can rub on fresh skin. For bikini or Brazilian services, easy access helps keep your visit quick and smooth. No need to overthink it—just come as comfortable as possible!
